Family Piknik, fifteen years and a new milestone
Everyone in Montpellier knows Family Piknik. Born as an open-air electronic picnic in the early 2010s, it has grown edition after edition into the region's summer house and techno gathering. For its 15th anniversary, it's going big: two full days at the Parc des Expositions, from noon to 2 AM, over 60 artists, plus an opening concert on Friday, July 31 with HVOB performing live. The spirit hasn't changed. Family-friendly, festive, open-air, and serious about its bookings.
Three stages, three worlds
The Elrow stage brings the Spanish-style party: Armand van Helden, an absolute legend of New York house, plays Saturday alongside Kevin de Vries. Space 92 completes the bill, with his mainstage-ready techno and "The Door", a track that traveled the world. On Sunday, Blond:ish and Korolova take over, with Venga, one of the new female talents in French tech house, already noticed by Fisher, DJ Snake and James Hype, and Montpellier local Teus.
The Hard Stage by Organik is where it hits. Saturday lines up Creeds, Todiefor, Hysta and 25emeheure, four names carrying the new French hard wave. Trym and Alignment on Sunday, with Ava Mind building the pressure. If you read us regularly, you already know that's probably where we'll spend most of our time.
And the Nomad Stage by AfterSeason plays the elegant card: Etienne de Crécy, a French Touch monument, a Roman Flügel b2b Erol Alkan we wouldn't have dared to dream up, then Chus & Ceballos, Oliver Huntemann and local talent Cebb on Sunday.

We cover festivals in Barcelona, venues in Paris and London. But this one happens twenty minutes from home. And that changes everything.
Our picks
We'll be there
After Sónar in June, we're carrying the summer on home ground. The 15th anniversary edition of Family Piknik is the kind we don't want to miss: enough headliners to draw the whole region, enough local talent to remember where the festival comes from. See you August 1-2 at the Parc des Expositions. We'll tell you everything.
